The White Olive Tree

The story focuses on war journalist Song Ran (played by Liang Jie) who encounters a terrorist attack while reporting in the tumultuous East Country. In a moment of crisis, she is rescued by Chinese demolition expert Li Zhan (played by Chen Zhe Yuan). The two get to know each other amidst the chaos—Song Ran is captivated by Li Zhan's selfless dedication, while Li Zhan is impressed by Song Ran's resilient courage. Just as their feelings begin to blossom, a meticulously planned bombing shatters their budding romance. After returning home, Li Zhan is haunted by the trauma of losing his comrades, while Song Ran faces public backlash over controversial war photos, leading to their separation as they each seek healing.
Fate brings this pair of soulmates together again years later. In the process of healing from their wartime traumas, they help each other and plant a white olive tree seedling, symbolizing peace, in the scorched earth. The series delicately portrays the growth of love forged in the fires of war, while also weaving in a tapestry of humanity through supporting characters like the sacrificed comrade played by Wang Tian Chen and the military doctor portrayed by Gu Zi Cheng.
