The story centers around Yan Xing (played by Deng Enxi), the illegitimate daughter of the Yan family. Since childhood, she has been mentored by the chief of the Department of Justice, acquiring exceptional detective skills that allow her to uncover the secrets hidden within physical evidence. Yan Xing passes the examination to become a female official in the Department of Justice, determined to find the true culprit and uphold justice. However, due to her elder sister's evasion of the empress dowager's arranged marriage, Yan Xing must marry in her sister's place, becoming the wife of Shen Du (played by Ding Yuxi), the Chief of the Inner Guard.
