The story is adapted from the novel "180 Days of Accompanying Childbirth" by Douban reading author Chu Tang. It follows the protagonist, Gu Yunsu, who, after experiencing heartbreak and unemployment, chooses to return home to temporarily rely on her mother, Wu Limei. Unexpectedly, she discovers that her mother, after remarrying, has become pregnant at an older age, making Gu Yunsu a caregiver to an older pregnant woman.
Unprepared for this new reality, Gu Yunsu navigates life with her forward-thinking mother, her unfamiliar stepfather, and a non-biological younger brother, embarking on a series of heartwarming and humorous family stories.
During these 180 days of accompanying childbirth, Gu Yunsu gradually transforms her relationship with her mother’s attending physician, Xu Wenbin, from adversaries to supportive partners. She comes to deeply rely on and cherish her mother, while Wu Limei develops genuine feelings for her daughter, akin to a "little cotton-padded jacket." Ultimately, with the warmth of familial love and the sweetness of romance, Gu Yunsu welcomes a new family member and finds a new direction in her career and life during this journey.
