Original author Chen Shenshen personally participated in the script adaptation, deeply integrating the dual mysteries of "ancient qipao curses" and "revenge by a heartless lover." Director Li Jinlun employed real-location filming combined with CG effects to recreate the flowing dark red blood patterns of the qipao-clad corpse and the writhing shadows beneath the bed, creating an immersive atmosphere of fear. Lead actress Zhu Xia challenges herself with a split performance, embodying both the "haunting spirit" and the "possessed college student," delivering an extraordinary level of tension.
"Is the sister's return from the dead driven by vengeance for love, or to break a thousand-year curse?" The film culminates in a deadly showdown set on "the midnight stairs," where characters are forced to confront their inner demons on a perilous staircase. The director reveals: "Every corner poses a life-and-death crisis, and the audience will feel the despair of 'a wrong step means the soul is lost' alongside the protagonist."
"Fatal Choice" blends folk horror, psychological suspense, and supernatural elements, sparking intense discussions following the trailer release, and is hailed as "a must-see Chinese horror film of 2025." Mark your calendars for February 28—proceed with caution if you’re faint-hearted!
