Always Home

The story begins in the summer of 2007, when sixteen-year-old Chen Huaner moves from her hometown of Sishui to the hospital family compound in the big city of Tianhe due to her mother's job transfer. Here, she meets the football-loving youth Jing Qichi and the academic overachiever Song Cong. With her optimistic and cheerful attitude, Chen Huaner adapts to her new environment, but also experiences many changes: Song Cong transfers schools due to his mother's paralysis, and Jing Qichi gives up his football dreams after an injury.
As they enter their senior year of high school, Jing Qichi falls into despair after his father's death, while Chen Huaner encourages him with her own experience of overcoming illness in her youth. Ultimately, they both gain admission to the same university, but due to various misunderstandings, they are unable to be together.
After graduation, Chen Huaner chooses to pursue a master's degree, while Jing Qichi goes to work in Beijing. They transition from friends to long-distance lovers. Years later, Chen Huaner returns to school to continue her research, and Jing Qichi also returns to her city. On the day of Chen Huaner's doctoral graduation, Jing Qichi finally proposes to her successfully, and they step into a happy future together.
"Always Home" centers on themes of youth, companionship, and growth, depicting the journey from youthful innocence to steadfastness in adulthood, and recording the story of a group of people who support each other and move forward together through the passage of time.
