Zhang Jia-jia

Zhang Jia-jia, born on June 22, 1980, in Nantong, Jiangsu Province, graduated from Nanjing University, and is a contemporary Chinese writer, screenwriter, and director. After graduating from university, he held positions such as magazine editor and TV director. In 2005, Zhang Jiajia published his first novel, "幾乎成了英雄 (Almost a Hero), with an initial print run of 100,000 copies. In 2010, he published the novel "情人書 (Lover's Book)". In 2011, Zhang Jiajia made his debut as a film screenwriter, earning a nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay at the 48th Golden Horse Awards in Taiwan for "The Butcher, the Chef and the Swordsman". In 2013, Zhang Jiajia began posting a series of 33 "睡前故事 (Bedtime Stories)" on Sina Weibo, which were reposted over 2 million times and read by more than 400 million people, earning him the title of "the best storyteller." That same year, these stories were compiled into the book "I Belonged to You", which sold over 4 million copies within a year, setting a historical record for a single novel and being selected as one of the top ten literary books in the Fifth China Book Power Rankings. In 2014, Zhang Jiajia served as a guest commentator on Jiangsu TV's "If You Are the One" from July to August. That year, he also published "讓我留在你身邊 (Stay With Me)", a book that tells human stories from the perspective of his pet dog, "Maisie." The book topped the pre-sale charts on the day of its pre-sale and sold over 800,000 copies within six months. In 2014, Zhang Jiajia also topped the Ninth China Writers Rich List.
In 2015, Zhang Jiajia announced that he would serve as the screenwriter and director of the film "See You Tomorrow", marking his directorial debut. He also served as the screenwriter and producer for the film adaptation of "I Belonged to You". In 2016, Zhang Jiajia ranked 7th on the Tenth China Writers List. In 2018, Zhang Jiajia published a new work, "Moments We Shared", which tells the coming-of-age story of a boy named Liu Shisan from Cloud Town. In 2021, he published "天堂旅行團 (Paradise Tour)". In June 2024, the film "Moments We Shared", directed by Zhang Jiajia, was officially released.
