Tong Yao

Tong Yao (Tanya Tong), a renowned actress in mainland China, was born on August 11, 1985, in Kunming, Yunnan province and graduated from the Central Academy of Drama. She embarked on her acting career in 2002 with the TV drama "林海雪原 (Lin Hai Xue Yuan)" as her debut. In 2007, she appeared in public with the film "Dare Not Say I Love You," playing Lan Xin, a character with a pure exterior. In 2010, she played the leading role in the TV drama "家常菜 (Home Cooking)". In 2013, her excellent performance in the anti-Japanese war drama "民兵葛二蛋 (Militia Ge Erdan)" led to her winning the "Newcomer Actress Award" at the annual China TV Drama Star Ceremony for her role as Meng Xizi. On October 18 the same year, she won the Best Actress Award at the 30th China TV Golden Eagle Award for her performance in "Like a Flowing River". On June 10, 2021, her outstanding performance in "Nothing But Thirty" won her the Best Actress Award at the 27th Shanghai TV Festival Magnolia Awards. On June 29, 2022, the crime suspense drama "Face's a Verb" in which she starred premiered.
