Sean Hu

Sean Hu (Hu Hao-Hsiang), born in 1990 in Taipei City, is a Taiwanese director, screenwriter, and a skilled fingerstyle guitar player. From a young age, Sean studied painting under the tutelage of ink master Wang Qinghe and won numerous awards in national and Taipei City art competitions. He attended Taipei Municipal Dazhi Senior High School and obtained a bachelor's degree in the Communication Division of the Department of Graphic Arts and Communications at National Taiwan Normal University. His father, Hu Ding-Yi, is a renowned film sound worker in Taiwan, which influenced Sean's unique understanding and passion for films. In 2004, Sean's film career officially began when he received recognition from the Golden Harvest Awards for his work "就要綠燈了 (Just About to Get the Green Light)." In 2011, with the support of famous directors Ang Lee and Li Kong, he produced his first microfilm, "Bu Dai Shui Wei."
Using the pseudonym "白羊 (Aries)" to direct films, he is not only adept at creating visual images but also at composing music. His exceptional performance in art, music, and film endows his works with a diverse style. In 2012, Hu founded "HawStudio." In 2016, he directed the online film "Come Back to your World," distributed by Tmeng Network, which garnered over 15 million views within a week of its release. That same year, he directed the film "The Psychic Duo," invested and produced by Videoland Movie Channel. In 2024, Hu's film "Love Beside Me" was released in Taiwan.
