Mario Pu was born on July 27, 1971, and is a male actor, comedian, and host from Taiwan. He grew up in a military dependents' village in Kaohsiung and attended Zuoying High School. After repeating two years, he moved north to audition for the National Taiwan University of Arts, where he graduated and was classmates with entertainers Liu Genghong and Guan You. His stage name "Mario" originated from a nickname he had while working in a restaurant.
After completing his military service, he worked as a bartender in a restaurant and later became the operations deputy manager, hosting restaurant events. He gained attention with the line "You mai ge ka a la!" from a mobile phone advertisement. Early in his career, Mario joined the "Hsien Hsien Family" under host Wu Tsung-hsien, serving as his assistant, although he revealed in 2021 that he did not have a driver's license at that time.
Over the years, Mario became active in variety shows and dramas, particularly as a regular cast member on the Star Chinese Channel's show "Crazy Show." His humorous performance style earned him widespread popularity, and he was affectionately referred to as "the Light of Crazy God" by audiences. In 2020, he won the Best Supporting Actor Award at the 55th Golden Bell Awards for his role as Wang Zhao-yang in "Island Nation." Additionally, he participated in the TV drama "My Unexpected Roommate," which aired on June 23, 2024, and appeared in "Teresa Teng" on June 6, 2024.
