Ma Nien-hsien, born on February 8, 1973, in Taipei City, Taiwan Province, with ancestral roots in Hebei, is a Taiwanese singer-songwriter, actor, and host. He graduated from the Department of Mass Communication at Tamkang University. His father is the children's literature writer Ma Jing-Xian. In 1994, Ma Nien-hsien joined the funk rock band "Sticky Rice," serving as guitarist and lead vocalist. In 1995, he participated in the "TOP-YOUNG Singing Competition" with Sticky Rice and won the Gold Award for Songwriting. In April 1997, Sticky Rice released their debut album "Sticky Rice." In July 2001, the band released their first EP album "Super EP." In 2002, their album "Youth Bird King" was named one of the Top Ten Chinese Albums of the Year by the 2002 China Entertainment Weekly and won the Golden Melody Award for Best Music Video. In 2004, Sticky Rice disbanded, and Ma Nian-Xian began his solo career.
In 2006, he starred in the Taiwanese comedy film "Like a Hero." In 2008, he played the role of Malasang in the Taiwanese romantic film "Cape No. 7" and released his first solo compilation album "Malasang Drunk and Full Compilation." In 2009, he co-hosted the Taiwanese entertainment program "王牌鑑定團 (Ace Appraisal Group)" with Vincent Liang. In 2010, he starred in the Taiwanese idol drama "Lucky Days." In 2012, he starred in the police drama "Justice Heroes." In 2013, Ma Nien-hsien was nominated for Best Original Film Song at the 50th Golden Horse Awards for the song "Jin Ma Mei Ang," which he composed for the film "Zone Pro Site." On October 6, 2015, he participated in the "Simple Life Festival" held in Shanghai. On May 18, 2022, he was nominated for Best Mandarin Male Singer at the 33rd Golden Melody Awards for his album "Mama Jeans and Daddy Shoes."
