Liu Xin

Liu Xin (Tony Liu ), born in 1968 in Kunming, Yunnan Province, is a mainland Chinese director, scriptwriter, and actor. Graduating from the Central Academy of Drama's acting department, he started working as a film and television director in 1995. A year later, he independently directed his first modern drama "朋友 (Friends)." In 2000, he directed the romance film "Rescuing Love," and by 2003, he had won the 10th China Film Huabiao Award for Best New Director for his romantic film "38 Degrees". In 2005, his urban film "暖秋 (Warm Autumn)" was nominated for the 11th China Film Huabiao Award for Outstanding Feature Film. In 2007, he directed "Jiang Bei Hao Ren," a drama that tells the story of the people from the Jiangbei area. Later in 2011, he directed the urban drama "青春四十 (Youth Forty)." In 2014, he consecutively directed the romance drama "Cupid Above" and the war drama "怒放 (Blooming)." Transitioning to period dramas in 2016, he directed "The King's Woman." In 2019, Liu directed the urban inspirational drama "Mr.Fighting." By 2020, his creations had expanded to urban spy drama "The Dance of the Storm" and economic detective series "Hunting." His affirmation came from "Hunting," which won him the Best Director award at the 29th China TV Golden Eagle Award. In 2023, his TV drama "In Later Years" was unveiled on CCTV-1 and iQiyi. In 2024, Liu won the Best Director award at the 4th New Era International TV Festival for "In Later Years." The same year, his suspense crime drama "Tell No One" was aired on the iQiyi platform, further showcasing his profound strength in the field of directing.
