Liao Ming-yi

Liao Ming-yi, born on January 18, 1980, is a versatile Taiwanese director, screenwriter, cinematographer, and editor. After graduating from the Graduate Institute of Applied Media Arts at National Taiwan University of Arts, he entered the field of visual creation in 2005, directing a wide range of works including music videos, commercials, short films, and feature films. The year 2011 was significant for Liao Ming-Yi as he served as an assistant director for the romance film "You Are the Apple of My Eye" and directed his first short film "Talk to Myself." In 2016, he was the screenwriter for the film "At Café 6." In 2020, Liao Ming-Yi's first feature film "I WeirDO" was released, in which he took on the roles of director, screenwriter, cinematographer, and editor. This film received Special Mention for Best Feature Film in the Uncaged Competition at the 19th New York Asian Film Festival. Liao Ming-Yi was also nominated for Best New Director at the 57th Golden Horse Awards and the Asian New Director Award at the 17th Hong Kong Asian Film Festival for this film. In 2022, he directed the drama film "In Justice." In 2024, his new film "Suffocating Love" was released nationwide in Taiwan.
