Leong Siew-hong

Leong Siew-hong is a filmmaker born in 1984 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She began her career in journalism and advertising production before pursuing further studies in the Film Department at National Taiwan University of Arts in 2013. Her graduation work, "Blind Mouth," completed in 2016, received significant recognition, including nominations for Best Short Film at the Golden Horse Awards, as well as accolades at the Golden Harvest Awards and Kaohsiung Film Festival.
In 2019, she released the television movie "Like Father, Like Daughter," which garnered nominations for four major categories at the Taiwan Golden Bell Awards. Beyond directing, Leong has continued to expand her screenwriting portfolio. In 2020, the screenplay she co-wrote for the film "The Paradise" was nominated for Best Screenwriter at the Asian New Talent Award during the Shanghai International Film Festival.
In recent years, she has diversified her work in the film and television industry. In 2025, she collaborated with emerging director Chen Hao to co-direct and co-write the social realism series "Tabloid," which premiered on a streaming platform. This work, set against the backdrop of the entertainment industry, has sparked significant discussion within the industry. Her creative trajectory spans various formats, including documentaries, films, and television dramas, with a continued focus on social issues and human nature.
