Karena Lam (Lam Kar Yan), born on August 17, 1978, in Vancouver, Canada, is a renowned actress and singer who was active in Hong Kong and Taiwan. Karena Lam was discovered by musician Jeremy Chang in 1993, marking the beginning of her entertainment career. In 2002, thanks to her lead role in the movie "July Rhapsody", she garnered the Best New Actor and Best Supporting Actress awards at both the Hong Kong Film Awards and Gold Horse Awards, establishing her broad recognition in Chinese-speaking cinema. Her performances in subsequent films like "Inner Senses", "The Floating Landscape", "Koma", and "Home Sweet Home" received positive reviews, leading to four consecutive nominations for Best Actress at the Hong Kong Film Awards. In 2009, Lam won the Best Actress award at the Chungmuro International Film Festival in Korea for her role in "Claustrophobia". In 2015, she won the Best Actress award at the Golden Horse Awards for "Zinnia Flower", making her the first actress to complete the "Grand Slam" of winning the 'Best New Actress', 'Best Supporting Actress', and 'Best Actress' awards.
