John Hsu
John Hsu, born in 1981, is a renowned young director in Taiwan who graduated from the Department of Radio, Television, and Film at Shih Hsin University. In 2005, he received the Best Director Award for an anthology series at the 40th Golden Bell Awards, making him the youngest director in the history of the awards. His first feature film, "Detention", swept twelve nominations at the 56th Golden Horse Awards, and ultimately won the awards for "Best New Director" and "Best Adapted Screenplay". The film was also nominated for the Best New Director at the 14th Asian Film Awards. As of 2023, he was a judge for both the primary and final selection at the 60th Golden Horse Awards.
