Ho Miu-kei

Ho Miu Kei is a film screenwriter and director from Hong Kong. She graduated from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University with a degree in Fashion and Textiles. During her studies, she worked part-time at a film company, assisting with research for the movie "La Lingerie" directed by Chan Hing Ka and Chun Siu-Chun.
After that, she worked in women's shoe design, but once "La Lingerie" began filming, she started participating in script discussions and took on the task of adapting the script into a novel. This led her to resign from her design job and become a full-time screenwriter. Ho Miu Kei has maintained a close collaboration with Chan Hing-ka and has had opportunities to work with directors such as Stephen Chow and Chan Muk-sing. As one of the screenwriters for Stephen Chow's film "The Mermaid," she received a nomination for Best Screenplay at the 36th Hong Kong Film Awards. She has also contributed to several Hong Kong comedies, including "Poker King" (2009) and "All's Well, End's Well 2012" (2012).
In 2023, Ho Miu Kei made her directorial debut with the film "Love Lies," starring Sandra Ng and Cheung Tin-fu. The creation of this film began in 2018, a time when romantic comedies were not popular in the Hong Kong film market, and she faced challenges with the script being overlooked. Later, she noticed the Hong Kong Film Development Council's "First Feature Film Initiative," which inspired her to direct the project she wanted to make. In 2020, she won funding in the 6th “First Feature Film Initiative” (Professional Group) to begin production.
