Herman Yau

Herman Yau (Yau Lai To) was born on July 13, 1961. He is a prolific Hong Kong film director, screenwriter, director of photography, producer, and actor. Being a member of the Hong Kong Society of Cinematographers and the Hong Kong Film Directors' Guild, he has been active in the film industry for many years. Upon graduating from Hong Kong Baptist University in 1984, Herman Yau made his directorial debut in 1987 with the film "No regret". To date, he has contributed to the production of hundreds of films - including thrillers, inspirational films, comedies, and crime dramas - most of which are low-budget production. His directorial portfolio includes films such as "The Untold Story", "Don't Fool Me!", "Taxi Hunter", and "Walk In". He was nominated for the Best Director award at the 7th and 9th Hong Kong Film Awards in 2002 and 2004, respectively, for his works "From the Queen to the Chief Executive" and "Give Them a Chance". In recent years, many of his films have been released in mainland China. These include "國家利益之不可能的任務" (2020), "The White Storm 3 - Heaven or Hell" (2023), "Raid on the lethal zone" (2023), and "Customs Frontline" (2024).
