Erica Li

Erica Li, born Li Mingyi on December 18, 1966, is a multifaceted creatore from Hong Kong with a career spanning singing, writing, lyrics creation, script writing, directing, DJing, and TV hosting. Li graduated with a master's degree in Psychology from the University of Hong Kong and completed her bachelor’s studies in Journalism and Communication at the New Asia College of The Chinese University of Hong Kong. In her early career, she served as a Creative Director at Warner Music Hong Kong. Her body of work is incredibly diverse, including over 483 Chinese lyrics, 50 novels, 11 essays, 28 screenplays, and 8 'oral history' film scripts; she has also written columns for newspapers and magazines. She's a member of the 'Paradox' music group, which won the Commercial Radio Music Award for Best Newcomer in 1989. In 1996, Li won the Hong Kong Film Award for Best Original Film Song for her creation of "Entirely Because of You", the theme song of "Peace Hotel". Her collaborative screenplay "Men Suddenly in Black" received nominations for Best Screenplay at the China Film Media Awards, Hong Kong Films Awards, and the Golden Horse Awards in 2004. In 2018, "Tracey", a film she co-wrote, released in Hong Kong causing a significant impact. In 2021, she was nominated for Best Screenwriter at the 30th Huading Awards for "Shock Wave 2", and was shortlisted for the Best Screenwriter category at the 31st Huading Awards. On February 22, 2022, her self-written and directed film "Just 1 Day" was released in mainland China. On July 5, 2024, "Customs Frontline", a film she co-wrote, is also scheduled to be shown in mainland China.
