Ding Sheng

Ding Sheng

Ding Sheng was born in 1970, originally from Qingdao, Shandong. He is a famous film director and screenwriter in mainland China, a professor and master's tutor in the Director's Department of Beijing Film Academy. He is also a member of the China Film Directors Association, member of the China Film Editing Society, and a national first-class director. Passionate about drawing since childhood, Ding Sheng graduated from the Art Department of Beijing Film Academy in 1994. In 2000, he shot his first film "A Storm In A Teacup." In 2001, he returned to Beijing Film Academy for further studies in the director's class and directed over 300 TV commercials. In 2008, he directed and wrote the script for the romantic heroism movie "The Underdog Knight". His subsequent works include the 2010 New Year action comedy "Little Big Soldier," and the 2011 action love movie "The Underdog Knight 2". "Police Story 2013," which he directed and scripted in 2013, starred Jackie Chan who collaborated with him many times before. The film grossed a total box office of 537 million yuan. In 2015, Ding Sheng directed "Saving Mr. Wu," one of his representative works. His 2016 movie "Railroad Tigers" was on show not only in China, but also in North America, UK, Australia, and New Zealand. In 2017, his work "Saving Mr. Wu" won the Best Editing Award at the 31st China Film Golden Rooster Awards, the Annual Feature Film Award at the Silk Road International Film Festival, the Outstanding Feature Film Award at the 16th Huabiao Awards, and the Best Editing Award at the 31st China Film Golden Rooster Awards. He was also nominated for the Best Editing at the 52nd Golden Horse Awards. In the same year, he did voice acting for "Monster Island" and directed "A Better Tomorrow 2018".
