Chung Siu-hung

Chung Siu-hung (Billy Hung), originally named Au Fook Hung, hails from Zhongshan, Guangdong Province, and was born in Hong Kong. He is a director, screenwriter, producer, and actor. He graduated from Wah Yan College, Kowloon. His father, Chung Kwok Yan, was a director known for making gangster films in the 1970s and 1980s. Chung Siu Hung entered the film industry in his teens. In 1975, the film "Hong Kong Superman" in which he acted was released. In 1980, he acted in the drama film "0.38," directed by Chung Kwok Yan. In 1984, he wrote and acted in the film "Teenage Trap." In 1987, the film "Brotherhood," where he served as an assistant director, was released. In 1991, he directed his first film, "Legend of the Chiuchow Brothers." In 1993, he directed the crime film "Lady's Super Cops." In 1996, his action film "Midnight Express In Orient" was released in Hong Kong. In 1999, his thriller "Last Ghost Standing" was released in Hong Kong. In 2001, he co-directed the school-themed film "My Schoolmate, the Barbarian" with Wong Jing. In 2003, his suspense film "Shiver" was released. Starting from the 2000s, his career focus shifted to the mainland Chinese market. In 2004, Chung Siu Hung was nominated for Best Original Film Score at the 23rd Hong Kong Film Awards for the film "Turn Left, Turn Right." In 2005, he co-directed the comedy "Kung Fu Mahjong" with Wong Jing. In 2006, he co-directed the martial arts drama "Fox Volant of the Snowy Mountain" with Wong Jing. In 2009, he co-directed the action film "To Live and Die in Mongkok" with Wong Jing. In 2012, his youth film "Mark of Youth" won the Outstanding Film Award at the 15th China Huabiao Film Awards. In 2013, he won the Outstanding Contribution to TV Drama Production Award at the 8th Chinese American Film Festival for directing the historical drama "Heroes in Sui and Tang Dynasties." In 2014, he co-directed the New Year comedy film "From Vegas to Macau" with Wong Jing. In 2016, he directed the drama film "The Empress of China." In 2017, his spy film "Eternal Wave" was released. In 2018, the sci-fi web series "The Great Adventurer Wesley," directed by him, was broadcast. In 2023, the film "Night Beauties" directed and produced by Chung Siu Hung was released. In 2024, his film "Operation Black-ops" is scheduled to be released in mainland China.
