Chin Kar-lok was born on August 6, 1965 in Hong Kong and hails from Sanshui, Foshan, Guangdong. He is a versatile Hong Kong actor, director, screenwriter, host and action director. As early as 1983, he served as a martial artist in the action film "Project A", marking his official entry into the entertainment industry. He later starred in the horror film "Mr. Vampire IV" in 1988 and the action film "Night Life Hero" in 1992.
In 1996, Chin Kar-lok took on a new challenge as a host, becoming the main presenter for the TVB game show series "Movie Buff Championship", hosting a variety of programs. Two years later, he began playing the character Yang Tian, also known as "Big Head", in the "Young and Dangerous" series of action films.
In 2004, Chin Kar-lok won the "My Favorite On-screen Partnership" award at the TVB Anniversary Awards, thanks to his outstanding collaboration and performance. Then, in 2009, he served as the action director for the action film "Shinjuku Incident", which led to his nomination for Best Action Choreography at the 29th Hong Kong Film Awards.
Chin Kar-lok's career reached a new peak in 2013 when he won the Best Action Design award at the 49th Golden Horse Awards in Taiwan for his work on the police film "Motorway". In 2015, he starred in the police drama "The Fixer". Following this, he was nominated again for the Best Action Design award at the 53rd Golden Horse Awards in 2016 for his role in another police film, "Cold War 2". Notably, in 2017, he became both the director and actor for the action film "Golden Job".
Currently, Chin Kar-lok represents the Hong Kong Stuntman Association and serves as a director of the Hong Kong Film Awards. He is also an amateur race car driver and the younger brother of martial arts actor Chin Siu-ho. He is left-handed and primarily works as an action director for films.
