Chien Li-ying
Chien Li-ying, born on March 29, 1984, is one of the most innovative contemporary playwrights in Taiwan. Her works are known for their sharp reflections and in-depth examinations of societal realities. In 2011, she was honored by "PAR Performing Arts" magazine as one of the "Top Ten Performing Arts New Forces" and was selected as the Dramatic Figure of the Year by the same magazine the following year.
Beyond her intensive focus on playwriting, Jian also participates in various art projects. She became a resident artist for the National Theater and Concert Hall's "Art Base Project" in 2015 and served as a campus-artist at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen) and National Chengchi University in 2018.
Chien never restricts her creative horizons. Her works span from stage plays to adaptations for film and TV. As a playwright, she boasts a forward-looking vision and boundless creativity, firmly believing in the power of stories to spark other stories and unlock infinite possibilities. Currently, Chien is the Content Director at Damour Film and Damour Cocoa, where she uses her impressive talent for playwriting to enrich the vibrant cultural and artistic landscape of Taiwan.
