Chen Yi-wen
Chen Yi-wen, born in 1966 in Taipei, Taiwan, graduated from the National Institute of the Arts (Drama Department), and is a versatile Taiwanese film and television actor, director, and scriptwriter. His acting career began in 1994, starring in the drama film "A Confucian Confusion". In 1995, his directed short film "Lessons in Life (生活的教訓)" won the First Prize Short Film award at the 18th Golden Harvest Awards. In 1999, Chen Yi-Wen wrote and directed the comedy film "Jam".
2000 was an important turning point in Chen Yi-Wen's career. The romance film "The Cabbie", which he directed, received tremendous response. The film was nominated for Best Film at the 37th Taiwan Golden Horse Awards and won the Grand Jury Prize at the Taipei Film Festival.
Subsequently, the romance "Tripping" that he scripted and directed was released in 2006, followed by his directorial drama "桔醬的滋味 (The Taste of Pumelo Jam)" in 2009. In 2013, Chen Yi-Wen continued to demonstrate his skills in the romance film genre by directing "As the Winds Blow".
In 2017, he was enthusiastically welcomed by the audience for his role in the drama film "The Great Buddha+". In 2019, with his role in the drama film "A Sun", he won the Best Actor award at the 56th Taiwan Golden Horse Awards and was nominated for Best Actor at the 14th Asian Film Awards.
In 2021, he showed passionate dramatic power in the short film "Growing Pains". On February 26th of the same year, the sci-fi thriller "Plurality" in which he starred was released in Taiwan. In 2022, he took a leading role in the sports-themed film "Summer". By 2023, Chen Yi-Wen once again showcased his acting skills in the crime drama "Taiwan Crime Stories".
