Cai Jie

Cai Jie, born in 1988 in Chaozhou, Guangdong, is a young Chinese director. He graduated from the School of Drama and Film at Communication University of China and is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in the Film and Television Department at the Central Academy of Drama. Cai Jie’s first feature film, 'Borrowed Time', was selected for the "New Waves" section of the Busan International Film Festival and the "Bright Future" section of the Rotterdam Film Festival. He also participated in the Talents Tokyo 2016 training camp. Cai Jie has directed several short films, including 'Nature's Kid (2012), '有生之年 (In This Lifetime)' (2013), and 'A Piece of Time' (2014). His works have won the Best Short Film Award at the 11th China Independent Film Festival and have been selected for the 32nd Busan International Short Film Festival and the 45th Tampere Film Festival in Finland. He is currently focusing on creating independent documentaries.
