Au Kin-yee

Au Kin-yee , a renowned film and television scriptwriter in Hong Kong, began her career at TVB and is now a key scriptwriter in the famous 'Milkyway Image' film crew. Since the establishment of Milkyway Image in 1996, Au has been its main scriptwriter and has become an indispensable assistant to directors Johnnie To and Wai Ka-Fai. Working closely with her fellow scriptwriters, such as Szeto Kam-Yuen, Yip Tin-Shing, and Yau Nai-Hoi, they have together created many popular films, including "Running Out of Time 2", "Running on Karma", "PTU", and "Throw Down". Au's scripting talent has been repeatedly rewarded, winning the Best Scriptwriter in the Hong Kong Film Awards for three times, specifically for "Running on Karma" in 2004, "Mad Detective" in 2008, and "Wisdom Tooth" in 2022. Moreover, she has also received the Best Original Screenplay award in the Golden Horse Awards three times, precisely for "PTU" in 2003, "Throw Down" in 2004, and "Life Without Principle" in 2012. "Limbo" also earned her the Best Adapted Screenplay award at the 2022 Golden Horse Awards. In addition to these, Au has won the Best Scriptwriter of the Hong Kong Film Critics Society Awards with "Running on Karm", "Mad Detective", "Written By", and "Life Without Principle" in 2004, 2008, 2010, and 2012 respectively, and also snagged the Best Scriptwriter award at the 2nd Asian Film Awards for "Mad Detective". She can be described as a hot figure in the industry as a scriptwriter.
