Lawrence Cheng

Lawrence Cheng (Cheng Tan-shui), born November 27, 1955, is a renowned Hong Kong male host, actor, and cross-media cultural figure. His work spans film, television, radio, stage, and newspaper columns. A versatile figure in the Hong Kong entertainment industry, he was a contracted artist with TVB and also served as an instructor at their artist training class. Cheng's career began as a radio DJ, where he became one of Hong Kong's most popular male DJs. He later served as the program director of Radio Television Hong Kong and the chief operating officer of Commercial Radio Hong Kong. His creation, "Little Man's Diary", is the only radio drama series in the Chinese-language film industry to have achieved such widespread success, breaking multiple listening records and being adapted into a novel, television series, film, and stage play. Cheng has also produced and participated in numerous classic radio dramas and television series, hosted hundreds of variety shows and large-scale programs, earning him the title of "Golden Emcee."
In 1967, he participated in the reality show "Enjoy Yourself Tonight". In 1994, he received a Hong Kong Film Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his role in "Tom, Dick & Hairy". In 1988, he played the character "Jing Ge" in the film "Ghost in the House". In 2016, he appeared in the reality show Do姐有問題 (Do Did You Have a Question?). In 2019, he participated in the reality show 尋找阿Lam的那些年 (Looking for Those Years of Alan Tam). In 2021, he starred in the fashion comedy "Fraudstars" on myTV Gold and also appeared in the film "77 Heartwarmings". On January 7, 2023, filming began on the movie "My First of May", in which he appears. He also showcased his acting skills in the film "An Abandoned Team", released on November 28, 2024.
