Morning Mo (Mo Tzu-yi) was born on June 23, 1981, in Taiwan. He graduated from the Drama Department of the National Taipei University of the Arts. In 1996, he began participating in theater and film performances, officially entering the entertainment industry, with his first television work being "Fantasia."
In 2000, he received a nomination for Best Supporting Actor at the 36th Golden Bell Awards for his performance in the TV drama "The Pact of Choshui River." He later appeared in the feature film "Somewhere Over The Dreamland" in 2002. In 2003, he was again nominated for the Best Supporting Actor award at the Golden Bell Awards for his role in the TV drama "Wadan's Wine Bottle." In 2006, he starred in the feature film "Do Over," and in 2008, he played the lead role in "A Place of One's Own," which tells the story of a rock musician.
In 2012, his leading role in the urban romance drama "An Innocent Mistake" earned him a nomination for Best Actor at the 48th Golden Bell Awards. In 2013, he starred in Australian director Aaron Wilson's debut feature film "Canopy," which was selected for several international film festivals. In 2017, he published a personal collection of writings titled "The Insomniac" and adapted the text into a musical theater piece.
In 2018, Mo served as a screenwriter for the TV drama "ROSEKI 1914," for which he won the Best Screenplay Award at the 53rd Golden Bell Awards. In 2020, he received multiple awards for his performance in the film "Dear Tenant," including Best Actor at the 22nd Taipei Film Awards and Best Actor at the 57th Golden Horse Awards.
In 2023, Mo Tzu-yi served as a judge for the 60th Golden Horse Awards, showcasing his influence in the film industry. His latest leading role in the upcoming film "The Embers" is set to be released on November 15, 2024, where he is expected to showcase his acting talents once again.
