Tommy Chu (Chu Pak Hong), born on November 4, 1982, is an actor from Hong Kong, also known as Chu Hong. He earned a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) degree in Acting from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and is a member of the Hong Kong male theater performance group and independent band Juicyning, where he serves as a guitarist and one of the vocalists.
Chu primarily focuses on stage performances and won the Emerging Artist Award (Drama) at the 2015 Art Development Awards. In 2019, he won the Best Actor in a Comedy/Light Comedy award at the 28th Hong Kong Theatre Awards for his role in the stage play "Fighting for Fame." He also collaborated with stage actress Rosa Maria Velasco in the music video "An Actor Prepares," by Alfred Hui Ting Hang, where he played multiple classic roles in a single take, which caught the attention of director Norris Wong for the film "My Prince Edward."
In recent years, Tommy Chu has joined ViuTV as a variety show host and has appeared in several television dramas, including "Midnight Cousin," "Dark City," and "Warriors Within." His film credits include "Zombiology: Enjoy Yourself Tonight" (2017), "Ciao UFO" (2019), "My Prince Edward" (2019), the Finnish film "Mestari Cheng" (2019), and the Taiwanese film "Someone Who Was Lost" (2020). In 2020, he took on the lead role in "My Prince Edward," earning nominations for Best Actor at both the 56th Golden Horse Awards and the 39th Hong Kong Film Awards.
On April 11, 2021, his romantic comedy "Ready o/r Knot" premiered exclusively on iQIYI. The sequel, "Ready or Rot," was released on December 14, 2023. In 2024, he participated in the film "Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In," which released, and later that year, "The Last Dance" was released in Hong Kong, followed by his lead role in the film "The Prosecutor," set to premiere on December 27.
