Ng Ki-pin was born on September 10, 1990, and is a Taiwanese singer, keyboardist, and songwriter, graduating from National Chengchi University with a degree in Advertising. He grew up in a Taiwanese-speaking family and learned piano and erhu at church from a young age. He joined the rock band club at Songshan High School. In 2012, he formed the Taiwanese independent rock band EggPlantEgg with friends from high school.
In 2013, EggPlantEgg released their first EP, "Still Here," which included the song "The Prodigal Son Returns." As band members gradually left to pursue their own career plans, Ng became the sole founding member. In 2014, he reformed Eggplant Egg, recruiting guitarist Cai Kai-ren, bassist Hsieh Yao-te, and drummer Lai Jun-ting. In 2015, shortly after completing his military service, Ng wrote 15 love songs during the summer.
On July 28, 2017, Eggplant Egg released their first album, "Cartoon Character," which consisted of re-recorded works by Ng and helped fund the establishment of their own company, EggPlantEgg Co., Ltd..
In 2018, the album "Cartoon Character" was nominated for several awards at the 29th Golden Melody Awards, including Album of the Year, Best Taiwanese Album, Best Band, and Best New Artist, ultimately winning Best Taiwanese Album and Best New Artist. That same year, Eggplant Egg received multiple nominations at the 9th Golden Indie Music Awards.
In 2019, Ng was nominated for Song of the Year at the Golden Melody Awards for "Flowing Waves." In 2020, his album "We Will Marry" received several nominations at the 31st Golden Melody Awards, and his song "Love Is Greater Than I Thought" was nominated for Best Original Film Song at the 58th Golden Horse Awards, winning Song of the Year at the 33rd Golden Melody Awards.
In September 2022, Eggplant Egg announced a hiatus due to lead singer Ng Ki-pin's vocal cord damage. In April 2023, he made a comeback as a guest performer at the 911 concert and participated in the 34th Golden Melody Awards ceremony on July 1. In 2024, his film "Yen and Ai-Lee" is set to be released.
