Andy Lo

Andy Lo (Lo Yiu-fai), born in 1974 in Hong Kong and originally from Nanhai, Guangdong, went to George Brown College in Toronto, Canada, in 1994 to study hotel management, graduating in 1997. After returning to Hong Kong, he enrolled in the screenwriting course offered by the Hong Kong Screenwriters' Guild and began his career in film scriptwriting.
His first script was for the film "Gorgeous" (1999), directed by Vincent Kok. He subsequently wrote scripts for various directors, notably collaborating with James Yuen on works including "My Wife Is 18" (2002), "Crazy N' The City" (2005), "Short of Love" (2009), and "My Sassy Hubby" (2012). In 2013, he made his directorial debut, directing one segment of the film "Hardcore Comedy."
He later created a script about the interactions between unemployed youth and dementia patients, securing the commitment of actress Nancy Wu to star. This project became his first feature film, "Happiness" (2016). The film participated in the Macau International Film Festival in 2016, where Nancy Wu won Best Actress at the 36th Hong Kong Film Awards, and it received several awards at various international film festivals. Andy Lo also won Best Director at the main competition of the Barcelona Asian Film Festival for "Happiness."
In addition to film scripts, he has also contributed to television dramas, radio plays, and comic scripts. In 2024, his film "Once In A Blue Moon" is set to be released in Hong Kong.
