Nie Yuan, born on March 17, 1978, in Zhenyuan County, Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture, Guizhou Province, China, is a male actor from mainland China with ancestral roots in Shandong Province. He graduated from Shanghai Theatre Academy.
In 2001, he starred in the costume drama "Wrong Carriage, Right Groom," which became a hit and garnered widespread attention. In 2002, he participated in the historical drama "Tian Xia Liang Cang," playing the young Emperor Qianlong. In 2004, he won the Top Ten Actor Award at the 5th "Popular Television Double Ten Awards" for his role in "Han Xue Bao Ma." In 2006, he played the male lead Hu Fei in "Fox Volant of the Snowy Mountain."
In 2011, Nie Yuan appeared in Zhang Jizhong's version of "Journey to the West," portraying the monk Tang Seng, and won the Most Popular Male Actor Award at the University Student Television Festival. That year, he also starred in the revolutionary epic drama "Ge Ming Ren Yong Yuan Shi Nian Qing" for the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party, playing Chen Zhi. In 2013, he portrayed Zhao Huai'an in the television version of "The Flying Swords of Dragon Gate." In 2012, he was nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the 3rd Macau International Film Festival for his role in the film "The Lost Bladesman."
