The plot revolves around 17-year-old Cheng Miaomiao (played by Sun Qian) and 16-year-old Cheng Yayaya (played by Li Qing). The two were born in the Linqi Oilfield’s first oil extraction factory, with three generations of their family working in the oil industry. Cheng Miaomiao's father, Cheng Pengfei (played by Tian Yu), is an ENT doctor, while her mother, Jia Daiyu (played by Liu Lin), is responsible for the logistics of the vehicle team. The family relocates from the northwest to the coastal town of Heping.
In the late 1990s, Cheng Miaomiao, filled with dreams of the outside world, plans an adventure to "go to Hong Kong for the return" during the summer break of her first year of high school, dragging her childhood friend Li Si (played by Zhai Zilu) and her best friend Hu Qiumin (played by Li Yutong) along, but they encounter difficulties. Meanwhile, her younger brother Cheng Yayaya nearly gets mistaken for a tomb raider during an archaeological dig on the back mountain, causing great headaches for their mother, Jia Daiyu. This leads to a chaotic high school life for the siblings.
Cheng Miaomiao faces a crisis in her feelings for Li Si, while Cheng Yayaya meets a transfer student, Yuan Shanqing (played by Qi Yuchen), who is the daughter of a wanted criminal. To protect Yuan Shanqing, Cheng Yayaya bravely stands up against hostility from all sides. As various changes occur, the children face new challenges and growth on their journey to maturity.
