Kiefer Liu, known by his stage name Agan, was born on January 9, 1960, in Shanghai. He graduated from Xi'an University of Electronic Science and Technology and has worked as a director, screenwriter, and producer. His career began in 1995, and he made his directorial debut in 1997 with the film "我爸爸不是人 (My Dad is Not Human)." In March 2000, his film "The Mirror" was released, followed by the successful "The Game of Killing" in 2004, which helped establish the brand of "Chinese thriller films." His works in this genre include "Family Ties," "Distinctive," "Ghosts," and "Double Dating," all of which received good box office receipts and positive reviews.
Over time, Agan began to transition and explore other genres of films. In January 2014, he produced "The Monkey King." In April 2016, his 3D action film "Brothers" was also released that month. In addition, Agan has directed several comedies in recent years, such as "Big Movie" and "Happy." As of January 2009, he had completed a total of 26 films. In 2020, the film "金吾衛之驚天幻術 (Gold Guard: The Amazing Illusion)," which he produced, was also successfully released.
