Chen Ming-hao

Chen Ming-hao

Chen Minghao, born on August 11, 1977, in Beijing, is an actor, director, and artistic director in Chinese mainland film and theater. He graduated from the Central Academy of Drama's 96-level performance undergraduate program and obtained a master's degree in arts from Peking University. In 2000, Chen Minghao joined the Youth Art Theater and began his acting career by performing "第十七棵黑楊 (The Seventeenth Black Poplar)" in Xinjiang. The same year, he collaborated with Meng Jinghui's theater studio to stage "關於愛情歸宿的最新觀念 (The Latest Concepts on Love's Destination)."
In 2004, he made his television debut in the series "青年烏蘭夫 (Youth Ulanfu)," portraying the character Yun Ze. In 2005, he participated in the production of "Amber," performing at art festivals in Hong Kong and Singapore. In 2006, he was admitted to Peking University and acted in Lin Zhaohua's directed play "The Master Builder," also playing dual roles of Fan Zong and the Bull Demon King in "Magic Mobile Phone." In 2007, he created and performed a small theater play titled "兩隻狗的生活意見 (Life Opinions of Two Dogs)," winning the Best Original Drama Award at the China Cultural Original List by Southern Weekend. In 2008, he received the Shanghai "Fashion Oscars" fashion figure award.
In 2013, his directorial work "巴巴媽媽 (Mama Baba)" won the Best Drama Award (also known as the "Town Award") at the inaugural Wuzhen International Theater Festival, and he received the Best Actor Award for microfilm "老男人歷險記 (The Adventures of an Old Man)" at the 15th Shanghai International Film Festival. In 2018, he played Wang Pangzi in "Tomb of the Sea" and in "Reunion: The Sound of the Providence."
In July 2019, he performed in the play "茶館 (Teahouse)" at the 73rd Avignon Theatre Festival in France, marking the first time contemporary Chinese theater entered the festival's core IN section. In 2021, Chen Minghao served as the artistic director for the inaugural Anaya Theatre Festival. In 2023, he played the role of Ma Desheng in the television series "A Long Season" and portrayed Cui Wei in "Playing GO." His film "Fortress," in which he stars as Mao Jiaxuan, is set to be released in mainland China on March 22, 2024.
