"Go East" is produced by Beijing iQIYI Technology Co., Ltd., co-produced by Wanda Film and Television Media Co., Ltd. and Carnival (Chongqing) Cultural Media Co., Ltd., directed by Zhao Qichen, with scripts written by Li Yema and Qiu Ting. The lead roles are played by Tan Jianzi and Zhou Yiran, with Du Chun, Kan Qingzi, Wei Zixin, and Zhang Shulun in supporting roles. It is a costume light comedy adapted from Chen Jian’s novel 'Chronicles of Kings in the Western Regions,' centered around a special institution called Sifangguan established in the capital city of Great Yong, Chang Le. The story depicts the joyful adventures of Yuan Mo, A Shu, Wang Kunwu, Wei Chi Hua, Yu De Shui, An Xiu Yi, and others as they showcase their talents and brave the world within this small realm. The drama premiered on iQIYI at 7:00 PM on August 23, 2024.

  • Set during the Anping era of Great Yong, the story follows Yuan Mo (played by Tan Jianzi), a small-town citizen in Chang Le City who processes documents for foreign individuals at the city gate. He unexpectedly encounters A Shu (played by Zhou Yiran), a refugee from the country of Yan Le who is trying to sneak into the city. Due to a misunderstanding, Yuan Mo is assigned to work at the Sifangguan, where he gets entangled with the border general Wang Kunwu (played by Du Chun), who has just reported to Sifangguan. From that moment on, Yuan Mo's life undergoes dramatic changes: a wine enthusiast, he is manipulated by the Sifangguan's master Yu De Shui into working in the western courtyard as a minor official handling affairs from various countries. By chance, A Shu becomes Yuan Mo's "little maid," and Wang Kunwu becomes his superior, with the noble lady Wei Chi Hua (played by Kan Qingzi) also coming to take charge. In the western courtyard, where he is mocked as "useless," Yuan Mo gradually grows and matures through a series of challenging tasks."
