Wang Guang-li

Wang Guang-li was born in November 1966 in Meishan, Sichuan Province, China. He is a director, screenwriter, and producer in mainland China, and he graduated from the Education Department of East China Normal University. In 1985, he enrolled in East China Normal University, where he founded a film club and served as the president of the university's Film and Television Association, organizing Shanghai's first university film festival. After graduating in 1989, he was assigned to teach at the China Youth Political Academy. In 1997, Wang Guangli directed his first film, "Maiden Work," which participated in several international film festivals. In 1999, his film script "代表作 (Representative Work)" received the Habart Bals Fund in the Netherlands. In 2000, he co-directed the documentary film "Go For Broke" in collaboration with the Shanghai Film Studio, which was featured at the Rotterdam International Film Festival and collected by the Netherlands Film Museum.
In 2005, he visited the United States as an international visiting scholar. In 2006, he co-directed the Hong Kong film "Wo Hu" with Mai Zishan, winning the Best Screenplay Award from the Hong Kong Film Artists Association. In 2008, he directed the public welfare short film "太陽出來喜洋洋 (The Sun Comes Out Happily)." In 2013, he directed the suspense film "A Chilling Cosplay." In 2016, his romantic sci-fi film "iGirl" was released. On May 13, 2017, he produced the family film "Love and Redemption," which was released. On August 18, 2020, the TV series "Love Yourself," directed by him, premiered on iQIYI. On April 25, 2022, his film "Duo Ming Ji Sheng" was released. In 2024, his TV series "The Golden Belt" will be released in mainland China.
