Calvin Yu or Yu Jin-wei (originally named Yu Xiao-wei) was born on March 19, 1976, in Tianjin, China. He is a mainland Chinese actor who graduated from the Central Academy of Drama with a degree in acting in 1999. Born into a musical family, Yu was exposed to a rich musical environment from a young age. He also studied fine arts and sculpture for many years and has experience working as a bartender and running a beauty salon. He often portrays young and talented or handsome and charming gentlemen on screen and is affectionately referred to by fans as the "most sunny and energetic actor." In 2001, Yu Jinwei starred in the romance drama "楊洋三嫁 (Yang Yang's Three Marriages)", officially beginning his acting career. In 2003, he starred in the idol drama "Boy&Girl", which aired on CCTV. In 2004, he appeared in the romance drama "就像美麗蝴蝶飛 (Just Like a Beautiful Butterfly Flying)", which was broadcast on Tudou.
