Dayo Wong (Wong Tze-wah) was born on September 5, 1960 in Hong Kong, China. He is a Hong Kong actor, singer, and stand-up comedian. He graduated from the University of Alberta in Canada and is honored as the "godfather" of stand-up comedy in Hong Kong. Wong began his career in the entertainment industry in 1984 when he joined the TVB screenwriter training program, and also worked with the Hong Kong Repertory Theatre and Commercial Radio during this period. He served as the host and writer for several programs on Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK). In 1990, he became well-known to the public through his unique stand-up comedy and the program "Gossip of the Entertainment Industry". Wong starred in multiple TVB dramas, including "Justice Sung Ⅱ" in 1999, "War of the Genders" in 2000, and "Bounty Lady" in 2013. His performances always achieved excellent ratings and word of mouth, therefore, he was hailed as a "blessing to TVB". His stand-up career reached a peak in 2011, when he brought his stand-up comedy "Gossip of the Entertainment Industry II" to the Hong Kong Coliseum stage for the first time. His two stand-up performances from 2014 to 2018 were also held at the Hong Kong Coliseum and the tickets were sold out immediately upon release as they were extremely popular. After entering the film industry, he starred in the movie "Agent Mr Chan" in 2016. In 2022, the movie "Table For Six" in which he played the lead role was released. In 2023, he received a nomination for Best Actor at the 42nd Hong Kong Film Awards in 2024 for his starring role in the movie "A Guilty Conscience".
