"Blooms at Ruyi Pavilion" is a TV series produced jointly by CCTV, Tencent Penguin Pictures, Shanghai Film Group Corporation, Shanghai Blooms Co., Ltd, and Shanghai Film Studio. The series is directed by internationally renowned director Wong Kar-wai, who also serves as the chief producer, marking his first venture into television drama. The script is by Qin Wen, and it stars prominent actors and actresses such as Hu Ge, Ma Yili, Tiffany Tang, and Xin Zhilei. Other notable actors, including Yo Ben-Chang, Zheng Kai, Chen Long, Dong Yong, and Wu Yue, were also invited to star in the series. Some parts of the series are adapted from the novel "Blooms at Ruyi Pavilion" by novelist Jin Yucheng, as well as "As Loud as Thunder", "Savage Growth", "Romances and Heartbreaks in the Stock Market", and other works. The series premiered on CCTV-8 on December 27, 2023, and was simultaneously streamed on Tencent Video.

  • The story is set in Shanghai in the 1990s, describing the journey of Ah Bao (played by Hu Ge) who, thanks to the wave of reform and opening up, works hard to rise to prominence as a new star in the business world.
