Jiang Wu, originally named Jiang Xiaobing, born on November 4, 1967, in Yutian County, Tangshan City, Hebei Province, is a Chinese male actor as well as a producer and director. He works in the National Theatre Company of China and graduated from the Beijing Film Academy. His wife is Song Yan, and his brother is the well-known Mainland actor Jiang Wen. He officially entered the entertainment industry in 1992 by participating in the movie "Grandpa Ge" and won the "Changchun Silver Cup Award" at the China Changchun International Film Festival. In 1999, he was known for acting in the movie "Shower," earned the title of "Chinese Forrest Gump," and won four awards, including the Best Actor Award at the 7th Beijing University Student Film Festival and the Best Supporting Actor Award at the 5th China Changchun Film Festival. That same year, he also won the Best Actor Award at the 19th Hawaii International Film Festival for the movie "A Beautiful New World". Afterward, his participation in TV series "空鏡子 (Empty Mirror)" and "Farewell Vancouver" won him "Top Ten" Actor Award at the 4th TV Festival. In 2007, he was nominated for the Best Supporting Actor at the 26th China Film Golden Rooster Awards for the film "Gun of Mercy". In 2009, Jiang Wu won the Best Actor Award at the 6th Sino-US Film Festival and the Best Actor Award at the 2nd UK WANSA International Chinese Film Festival for the film "The Robbers"; subsequent to that, he won the Best Actor Award at the Spring 2010 TV Drama Internet Festival for the drama "Fathers and Mothers". In 2010, he starred in the black comedy movie "Let the Bullets Fly". In 2011, he won the Best Actor in a TV drama about the Chinese modern revolution at the 8th Huading Awards for "誓言今生 (Vows of Lifelong Love)". He earned the same award in 2012. In 2013, his leading film "A Touch of Sin" was nominated for the official competition at the 66th Cannes International Film Festival. In 2015, he served as the ambassador for the Straits International Microfilm Festival. In 2016, he directed his first movie "Childhood Buddy". In 2018, he won the Best Supporting Actor of the Year at the 14th Sino-US Film Festival for "Father And Hero". In 2021, he served as the film ambassador for the 16th China Changchun Film Festival and was nominated for the Best Supporting Actor at the 30th Huading Awards for "The Eight Hundred". In 2022, his lead film "黃金甲 (Golden Armor)" was released. His movie "斗破蒼穹·止戈 (Doupo Cangqiong: Zhige)" premiered in 2023. In 2024, his movie "Three Old Boys" is scheduled for release in Mainland China.
