The story unfolds on the night of the fifteenth day of the Lunar New Year. Drums and gongs are heard everywhere on the streets, where crowds gather where Han Dan Ye, the deified personification of Han Dan, is to be found. Ah Yi, being the fleshly Han Dan, bravely stands atop the divine sedan chair, as devotees aim firecrackers at him. Suddenly, a heap of excessive explosives is ignited, the deafening blasts, the cries of alarm... In a tragic twist, an accident causes Ah Yi's girlfriend, Xuan Xuan, to lose her life. Seeing Ah Yi clinging to his life but losing everything else, plummeting to the bottom of society, Kun Yin unhesitatingly abandons his future as a teacher to help.
