Patrick Kong

Patrick Kong (Yip Lim-shum), originally named Kong Pak-leung, is a Hong Kong actor, blog film critic, and film director. Born on March 19, 1975, he graduated from the History Department of Hong Kong Baptist University. His directorial works often revolve around youthful love triangles, and the names of his female protagonists often include the Chinese character "Bo." In 1997, Yip started his career as a screenwriter with the movie "First Love: The Litter on the Breeze." In 2003, he wrote the script for the comedy film "Men Suddenly In Black," which was nominated for the "Best Original Script Award" at the 40th Taiwan Golden Horse Awards and the "Best Screenwriter Award" at the 4th Chinese Film Media Awards. In 2004, he began his directorial career with his first film, "My Sweetie." He was nominated for "Best New Director" at the 26th Hong Kong Film Awards in 2006 for the romance film "Marriage With A Fool." From 2007 to 2016, he directed several films such as "Love Is Not All Around," "L for Love, L for Lies," "Marriage With A Liar," "Delete My Love," and "L for Love L for Lies too." In 2019, he transitioned to directing TV dramas, specifically a police and thief drama titled "Stained." In recent years, his films "Love is Blind, Hate Too" and "Love at First Lie," for which he served as screenwriter, director, and producer, were released in 2022 and 2024, respectively.
