Simon Yam (Yam Tat-wah) is a film and television actor and model from Hong Kong. He was born on March 19, 1955, and traces his roots back to Jining, Shandong Province. He entered the entertainment industry as a model in the 1970s and gained fame with his role in "House of the Lute" in 1979. In 2001, Yam was nominated for "Best Supporting Actor" at the 38th Taiwan Golden Horse Awards for his role in "Midnight Fly". In 2003, he starred in the action drama film "PTU", which earned him nominations for "Best Actor" at the 23rd Hong Kong Film Awards and the 40th Taiwan Golden Horse Awards. He won the "Best Actor" award at the 9th Hong Kong Film Critics Society Awards. His lead role in "Election", released in 2005, won him the "Best Actor" award at the 11th Hong Kong Film Critics Society Awards. In 2007, he starred in "Triangle" and in 2008 he appeared in "Sparrow", which earned him a "Best Actor" nomination at the 28th Hong Kong Film Awards. In 2009, his performance in "Night and Fog" won him the "Best Actor" award at a Spanish Film Festival. In 2010, he won "Best Actor" at the 29th Hong Kong Film Awards and the “Asian Star Award” at the New York Asian Film Festival for his role in "Echoes of the Rainbow". In 2015, he won the "Best Actor" award at the 6th Macau International Movie Festival for his role in "SARA". In 2019, his performance in the TV series "The Thunder" won him the "Best Supporting Actor" award at the 10th Macau International Television Festival. In the same year, he starred in the TV series "One Dream One Home", which earned him the "Best Actor" award at the 30th China TV Golden Eagle Awards, making him the first actor from Hong Kong to win this award. On July 21, 2023, the movie "The Comeback", which he produced and starred in, was released on iQIYI's Cloud Cinema. On February 16, 2024, he starred in the movie "Break War" which was released in Mainland China.
