David Chiang

David Chiang

David Chiang (Chiang Tai-wai), popularly known as John Chiang or Brother John, was born on June 29, 1947. He is a Canadian Hong Kong director and one of the founders of the Hong Kong Director's Association. He is also a martial arts instructor and scriptwriter. He is the half-brother of renowned directors Paul Chun Pui and Derek Yee. John's acting career spans across various television stations, having acted in Rediffusion Television, Asia Television, and Hong Kong Television Network. Today, he is a basic contract artist at TVB. His acting skills were recognized at the TVB Awards Presentation 2021 where he received the "TVB Artist of the Year" award. Prior to this, he was nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the 42nd Hong Kong Film Awards in 2024 for his performance in "In Broad Daylight". So far, John's portfolio is rich and diverse, having acted and directed nearly 200 film and television dramas, including over 140 films, more than 40 TV dramas, and over 10 films where he served as the director. His achievements are undoubtedly impressive.
