Cherry Hsieh

Cherry Hsieh (Hsieh Chiung-hsuan), born on October 7, 1971, is a highly talented Taiwanese actress who is active in theatre, television, and film. She graduated from the Theatre Department of the National Taipei University of the Arts. In 2014, she won the Best Supporting Actress in a Television Drama at the 49th Golden Bell Awards, and the Best Supporting Actress at the 2014 Asian Television Awards for her heartfelt and intricate performances in the Hakka television series "Lonely River". Even though Hsieh doesn't have children in her personal life, she successfully portrayed the role of a mother in quite a few works, where the image of a tragic mother deeply imprinted in the public's mind. For instance, she played the mother of a murderer in "The World Between Us" in 2019, portrayed a kind lady burdened with heavy housework in "A Taste to Remember", a deaf and mute mother taking care of her husband and children in "Coolie", and a tough, sick mother in "I, Myself" in 2020. In 2021, Hsieh took on another challenge by starring in the Netflix series "Light the Night", where she played the role of an experienced hostess, Ji Man-ru, in the Japanese hotel 'Hikari', adding another chapter to her acting career.
