Kai Ko, originally named Ko Chia-kai, was born on June 18, 1991, in Penghu County, Taiwan. He is active in the entertainment industry as a Taiwanese male artist and director, also a pop singer. He spent his growth years in Taipei City and graduated from the Physical Education Department of the Private Chinese Culture University.
His acting career began in 2011 when he made his debut in the film "You Are the Apple of My Eye" directed by Giddens Ko, for which he won the Best New Actor Award at the 48th Golden Horse Awards. That same year, he also released his first personal album "有話直說 (Straight Words)". The following year, he won the Best New Actor Award at the 12th Chinese Film Media Awards again.
Kai Ko began to participate in the series of films "Tiny Times" directed by Guo Jingming in 2012, which made him stand out in the film industry. In addition, he starred in the films "Together" and " A Choo" in 2013 and 2014, respectively. In 2015, the "Tiny Times" series of films he starred in achieved excellent box office results, close to 1.8 billion RMB. And in 2016, he starred in "The Road to Mandalay", and was nominated for the Best Actor Award at the 53rd Taiwan Golden Horse Film Awards for this film.
However, in 2014, Kai Ko was arrested by the police in Dongcheng District, Beijing, for his involvement in drug abuse, which caused a significant sensation. After the storm, Kai Ko returned once again with Giddens Ko's film "Till We Meet Again", and won the Best Actor Award at the 24th Taipei Film Awards in 2021 for this film. In 2017, he also won the Male Actor of the Year award at the Youth Film Handbook's annual Chinese Top Ten Awards Ceremony.
